MOT's & Servicing

Most vehicles that are at least three years old and used on the road are legally required to be subjected to an MOT test every year. At our Hampton-located garage, we can undertake MOTs on your vehicle as well as thoroughly service it to keep it in its best working condition.

How does an MOT differ from servicing?

An MOT and servicing have much in common, as they both put your vehicle through various checks – including checks of its tyres, brakes and seatbelts.

However, while obtaining an MOT pass certificate would indicate that your vehicle satisfies minimum road safety and environmental standards, a service will analyse your vehicle more thoroughly – right through to checking its mechanical condition, which is beyond an MOT’s remit.

What is included in an MOT?

An MOT is intended to check whether your vehicle meets various bare minimum requirements specified by the DVSA. Therefore, aspects of your vehicle the MOT will test include the lamps, reflectors, steering, suspension, brakes, tyres and exhaust.

What does servicing involve?

As MOT testers are not allowed to dismantle any components on a vehicle, they can neither assess the vehicle’s mechanical condition nor replace any of its parts.

However, as part of the full service we offer, we can replace spark plugs, fuel filters and air filters to help maintain and enhance the vehicle’s performance. We can also comprehensively inspect that vehicle’s tyres, steering, suspension, brakes and lights.
